We Welcome Michelle Holder to the Board as a first time member:
Michelle started her Rehab career as a Senior     Nursing Technician at the Rehab Institute of Michigan.  She received her AD from St. Claire Community College, her Bachelors and Masters with a teaching certificate from Oakland University and  She is looking forward to starting her PhD program in nursing education  this fall.  She has worked in rehab at Cottage, Straith Hospital and as an independent case manager.  She also teaches nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy.  Please welcome Michelle!!

Please let us know of any special topic you would like presented in the coming next year.

We are also interested in visiting your site for an evening meeting and presentation.   Let us know if you are interested!  We have some open dates.

Don't forget about the conference in Orlando this year.  It is always so educational and stimulating.  A good way to renew your dedication to rehabilitation nursing!

A CRRN Review course will be held at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan in Detroit on September 17th & 18th.  It will be 8am to 6pm on the 17th and 8am to 4pm on the 18th.    Betty Clark from Texas again be the instructor (excellent reviews).  It will be $300 for non Rehabilitation Institute employees and $250 for RIM employees.  16 credit hours have been approved.  If you are interested, please call the nursing department at 313-745-1215, contact Linda Thomas at 1-248-745-9139 or e-mail lthomas@dmc.org.  This course will help prepare nurses for the CRRN exam; it can assist the nurse who is new to rehabilitation nursing to become more knowledgeable about the principles or rehabilitation and the nursing care that rehabilitation patients require.  The course provices information on topics that are critical to the practice of rehabilitation nursing.

MI-ARN has another goal.  We are looking to further develop our website by enabling members/non-members to enroll for conferences on line.  We are currently looking into using Master Card and Visa to make things easier for the members and for the vendors.

Fund Raiser:  Our chapter is interested in doing a fund raiser to support a local rehab group.  Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.  Please notify any board member if you have any ideas.

Kathleen Urban, our Region 4 Director, was recently sponsored to attend a legislative update in Washington DC.  She has info on a variey of issues including the Orthotic & Prosthetic Parety Act, the Nursing Shortage and the National Institute of Disability Research (NIDDR).  She encouraged letters to our congressman and representatives.  For more information, please contact Kathleen at kurban@gchosp.org.

ARN is now on facebook.  Make that one of your links to obtain the most up to date news.
